AARP Safe Driver Training: 9 am Ė 3 pm, Monday, July 24
Signup Deadline: 3 pm, Thursday, July 20
Capitol Hill Village is hosting an AARP Safe Driver training to refresh participantsí knowledge of traffic hazards, specific driving practices that reduce the risk of crashes, and why itís important to learn how aging affects our driving experience. Even if you took the CHV-sponsored AARP Safe Driver course some years ago, there are sure to be new things for you to learn.
The program will be held at the Hill Center, with lunch provided. Those completing the class receive an AARP Safe Driver certificate, your ticket to a discount on your car insurance and the confidence that youíre up to date on how to be the safest possible driver, now and in the future.
To participate, sign up by Thursday, July 20th at 3pm by calling the office at 202-543-1778 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $15 for AARP members or $20 for non-members. Reservations are required and space is limited. While there is no test at the end of the training, you must attend the full program to receive the Safe Driver certificate.
Encourage a friend to join you for the class! Contact Heather Foote, CHV Transportation Outreach Manager, for further information: email@example.com or 202-543-1778, ext. 109.
Capitol Hill Village, together with other Villages, received a grant from the DC Department of Transportationís Vision Zero program, part of a national and international effort to create safer roadways for all users, including pedestrians and bicycles. Through this grant and one from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, Village outreach will encourage and assist older adults to plan for their future by exploring alternate transportation modes in addition to taking steps to become even safer drivers.
